ACQUIRES ASSETS OF M&S FOODSERVICE
GRAND RAPIDS, MI, May 22, 2003--Gordon Food
Service (GFS) announced today that the company has acquired the
assets of M&S Foodservice Inc. of Moncton, New Brunswick.
Details of the transaction were not disclosed.
A new, state of the art distribution center currently under construction
by GFS in Amherst Nova Scotia, will be operated as M&S Food
Service, a GFS Canada Company. It is due to open in late June
2003. The M&S Foodservice Inc. senior management team has
been hired to run this operation.
Gordon Food Service President Dan Gordon said, "We are excited
about the extension of our distribution into Atlantic Canada and
the leadership that the M&S team will provide."

and customers," said Russ Mallard who co-founded M&S with
business partner Eric Sloan in 2000. "Our passion has always been

region."
Gordon Food Service, is a 106 year old, family owned and managed,
broadline foodservice distributor, with its Canadian head office
located in Vancouver, B.C. The company's distribution network
services over 30,000 customers with over 14,000 products.
M&S Foodservice began serving foodservice
operators in the Maritimes in March 2000 and has grown to just
under 100 employees during the past three years. The company services
restaurants, hotels, universities and government facilities throughout
the region.
