After being a stay-at-home mom for 17 years, my kids were all in school and I was going crazy! So I began working here at the GFS Marketplace store as a cashier two days a week.
I really appreciated how much the leadership in my store worked around the school and sports schedules of my kids. As my children grew, I had more time to work and began working almost full-time.
About a year ago I had the opportunity to take that next step and was promoted to the role of Shift Leader.
What I love most about working here is helping people with their product selections or party planning opportunities. There's nothing more rewarding for me than to help bring peace of mind to that mom who is planning a high-school graduation party, and being able to assure her that it's going to be a great success.
As I think about growing in my career, I may very well take the next steps toward store management. That is one thing that I feel really sets Gordon Food Service apart from other companies. They do so much to help you expand and grow. You can go as far as you would want to grow—all you have to do is tell them that you want to learn more and advance—and they will do what they can to help you get there.
It's a great place to be!
