Internship Testimonial by Heather

Joined Gordon Food Service: 2007

I have known for a long time that Human Resources and Recruiting were the roles I wanted to play in a career. As a college sophomore, I joined Gordon Food Service as a Recruiting Intern for their corporate offices.

Internships here at Gordon Food Service offer the “real world” experiences that really prepare you for your career.

I’ve had a great time conducting interviews, evaluating candidates, and working with senior managers to fill the positions within their departments. In addition, I’ve been given the opportunity to lead the Internship program for Gordon Food Service, including Career Fair coordination, interview management, and even get the chance to extend the offer letters.

What I like most about the internship position is that I was trusted to do the job that was given to me—and I enjoyed a lot of independence and autonomy to do it in a way that I felt would be most effective.

I love that what I do makes a huge difference within the organization. Our company is all about the people—and helping to add the best people to the right opportunity is an amazing achievement!

My hope is that I will get to work for Gordon Food Service full-time when I graduate in May. If not, I know that what I’ve learned here will complement whatever career opportunity I find in the future.
