Is Toast a subsidiary of Gordon Food Service?

No. Toast is an independently owned and operated company. Together, Toast and Gordon Food Service work to better serve restaurant owners by combining cutting-edge technology and unparalleled customer service. Gordon Food Service and Toast will be releasing a unique integration to make inventory management easier and more precise.

How will I be charged for the software and credit card processing fees?

Toast charges a monthly subscription fee that is collected through scheduled ACH transactions based on the bank account information you provide.

In addition to the monthly subscription, Toast will match or beat your existing credit card rates with no monthly or annual fee. All major credit cards are accepted, but you must provide bank information and agree to the merchant terms of service.

What do I need for hardware?

Toast runs on the Android operating system and offers a variety of hardware options that can be customized for your business. To ensure the highest quality and effective support, hardware should be purchased through Toast. Typically, hardware packages include 22", 15", or 10" Elo terminals and credit card readers, Epson® receipt printers, cash drawers, and Samsung 7" handheld tablets.

Can I use Toast on my Apple® devices?

The Toast application itself runs on an Android operating system, but all reporting and back-end functionality is accessible from any Internet-connected device whether it be a PC, Mac, iPad®, or smartphone.

What kind of training does Toast offer?

The Toast team is committed to setting you up for success before the system is live. Training is available in the form of interactive online videos and tutorials and in-person manager training. The system offers a test mode that allows you to train staff without interfering with real-time reporting, sales, and payments.

How hard is it to switch over to Toast from my current POS system?

The Toast system will arrive pre-configured and, in most cases, can run on the same cabelling that was installed with your old POS system. Toast offers full professional installation and on-site support on your first day serving customers.

What if the Internet goes down?

Toast has a full offline mode so that you can continue to take orders and send them to the kitchen printers even if your Internet is down for a period of time. Once the system is back online, credit card payment data will automatically sync to the server. It’s recommended to have a 4G Internet plan that integrates directly into your Wi-Fi network as a backup plan.
